About Kelsey Merkle

“When we first saw it, we thought it was outstanding,” said Elaine Harrigan, Marketing Director of the Kenan Center House Gallery in Lockport, NY when asked about Kelsey’s piece entered in the 2010 prestigious Niagara Frontier Art Exhibit.  “For someone like [Merkle], winning an award in a significant gallery out of people who are mostly veteran artists, and to think it’s her first year entering, it’s really saying that she has an extraordinary talent. “ added Harrigan "She wasn’t competing against novices.”  Kelsey went on to win this award again in the 2012 competition.
 
It’s fun to win, and be honored, but that isn’t what it’s all about.  It’s about doing what you love.  This is what Kelsey loves.
 
Kelsey Merkle is a young emerging artist near Buffalo, NY.  She recently completed the Visual and Creative Arts program with a 3.98 average (Damn that solitary "B" in Art History) at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario Canada.  Kelsey has started the renowned Illustration progam this Fall. She is paying for college by painting faces at various art shows and events, and selling her artwork online.
